2014 NON-PROFIT PARTNERS

  • About: Local First Utah, organized in 2005, seeks to strengthen communities and local economies by promoting, reserving, and protecting local, independently owned businesses throughout Utah.  Today Local First Utah has more than 2,700 locally owned and independent business partners including citizens and government organizations across the state.
Utah Society for Environmental Education (USEE)
  • About: Utah Society for Environmental Education has been a statewide leader in promoting high quality environmental education in Utah since 1981.  USEE encourages environmental literacy by teaching Utahans how to think, not what to think about the environment.  To achieve this goal, USEE serves as an umbrella organization and information resource for environmental educators, K-12 teachers, higher education, and the Utah community at large.
Draper Cycle Park Association
  • About: Draper Cycle Park Association (formerly Salt Lake Velodrome Association) was created to facilitate the construction of a velodrome along the Wasatch Front and bring world class racing to Utah.  The scope has been broadened to include mountain bike park, in-line skate track, criterium coarse, cyclocross course, kids park, and climbing wall.

Homeless Youth Resource Center
  • About: The Homeless Youth Resource Center, a program of Volunteers of America, delivers a continuum of services to homeless street youth through three components: Street Outreach Program, Drop-In Center, and Transition Home.  Last year (2011-2012) the HYRC served 1,264 individuals across the three programs.
The Sharing Place
  • About: Grief support groups meet at The Sharing Place for 90 minutes, twice a month. Groups are organized by ages and need, which is identified during the family consultation prior to joining a group. We currently host 28 grief support groups which serve more than 300 children, teens and their families. The Sharing Place operates at capacity, therefore we may not be able to immediately accommodate all the requests we receive.   
  • Mission: For nearly 2 decades, The Sharing Place has been fulfilling its mission to "provide a safe and caring environment for grieving children, teens, and their families to share their feelings while healing themselves."
Wasatch Community Gardens
  • About: Wasatch Community Gardens is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that has served residents along the Wasatch Front since 1989. They are committed to building community and providing opportunities to learn and grow through gardening. They do so by offering a spectrum of dynamic programs, workshops, and events covering everything from starting your own community garden to starting your own seeds indoors. As interest in urban agriculture grows, we strive to offer a vibrant and evolving network of land, expertise, and education.
  • Mission: Wasatch Community Gardens’ mission is to empower people of all ages and incomes to grow and eat healthy, organic, local food.

Children's Justice Center
  • About: Child abuse is a traumatic and devastating experience for both children and their families. Victims are often confused and blame themselves. The Children’s Justice Center (CJC) is a home-like, child-friendly facility where children receive coordinated services during the child abuse investigative process by decreasing secondary trauma that may be caused by the criminal justice and child protection systems.   
  • Mission: "To provide a comfortable, child-friendly atmosphere where children receive coordinated services during the child abuse investigative process"
Intermountain Therapy Animals
  • About: Intermountain Therapy Animals is a non-profit organization bringing animal resources to human needs. We specialize in providing animal-assisted therapy in the areas of physical, occupational, speech and psycho therapies, as well as special education.   
  • Mission: "Enhancing quality of life through the human-animal bond."
Utah Pride Center 
  • About: Utah Pride (formerly the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Community Center of Utah) is a non-profit, non-governmental, community organization that plays the vital role of providing information, programs, referrals, and services to a diverse LGBTQ community in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The staff of the Center disseminates information on a wide variety of issues and advocates for social change for the GLBT community. 
  • Mission: "Utah Pride is a catalyst for building and celebrating the strength, equality, dignity and self-determination of the LGBTQ community throughout Utah. We are committed to excellence in execution and the continuing improvement of all programs, services, education and advocacy. We value and support individuals, families, and allies and building partnerships across communities."
